Ok, so what's all the fuss & nonsense about ?
" Is it just the Dealers or the UK Importer trying to gain control over the market".......

So what is the difference? How can I, the customer, believe what I am being told ? 
 Surely, an MX5 is an MX5, isn't it ? They all come out of the same factory!!!

WE can't and won't go down the route of putting down anything that doesn't wear the "MX5" badge....and 
....YES ! - The vehicles are mostly identical, BUT, there are some differences.....
...One difference is quite simply that our "imports" are supplied through the Official Dealer Network route. All have been stringently checked not only at the arrival time, but also at our Mazda Dealership. Because of this Mazda Motors UK ensure that all UK specification MX5's have a 3 year/60,000 mile warranty. Even if you exceed 60,000 miles the vehicle still enjoys the protective benefits of Mazda Assistance, for the FULL 3 Year period...and warranties can be extended...

.....All UK Spec MX5's are recorded on the MAZDA Motors UK database so that all  Mazda Dealers in the UK can access vehicle details. This means that should the unlikely event occur where a factory recall or modification be requested by the Factory, the Dealer Network can track you down and record completion of the work. Mazda Dealer Technicians are of course trained to the Highest possible standards....Our Technicians Prepare, Service/Maintain/Repair 100's of MX5's every year.

.....Finally, WE prepare all vehicles prior to delivery and continue to care for them, thereafter.....We don't just say ....
"Thank you and Goodbye!"  .....  
......The Car Sale is just where the relationship begins...
If you don't think you'll get a straight answer from a car salesman, then just ask a Parts or Service person! - 
 No! - They are NOT pre-programmed to say "Imports are Rubbish" - they will give you an informed view from  everyday expereince ..(They have to try and correct some of the horror stories)
  • So why avoid non-uk / non Mazda dealer imports? 
    Body repair jobs may take longer because some parts are different
  • Some imports are Automatic Transmission - this has never been brought into the UK officially until August 2001
  • MX5's connect to the AUTOCHECK 4000 Diagnostic unit & WDS Tester- Some imports do not have the correct connections and can NOT be subject to diagnosis as the Mazda factory originally intended in their true country of origin..
    UK MX5's should have the correct wiring to make hard top rear heated screen function - Imports often do not - extra modifications can of course be made..at a cost..
    Some warranty & Insurance companies do not categorize imports as keenly as the MX5..ASK an INSURANCE BROKER - not us.
  • These are just a few examples......
And when it's time for a change, you'll find that only the Genuine Article attracts the Best price.....

Many First time MX5 Buyers have decided to start with a cheaper import and change to a Genuine Spec MX5 later.
This is fine, but in general, us franchised dealers will not buy the import model, or will only offer you a disappointingly low value, 
leaving you with the option to sell privately. - But don't despair! - There are usually plenty of buyers around.

WE are all for a bit of healthy competition!...
...After all , we are consumers too, in our private time! - Looking for the bargains!
We all know only too well that a SHORT-TERM saving is not always a wise decision in the LONG-TERM!
