  Launched at the same time as the MX5 Merlot (1.8i). Globally, Mazda had by now sold in excess of 
  350,000 Mx5's  already making the MX5 one of the best selling sport's cars of all time.

In 1995, UK Sales of the MX5 doubled and reports of high residual values, for the Genuine UK spec MX5, were widespread. The MGF 1.8i was at this time some £2,645 more expensive.
