MX-5 Merlot
The
Merlot is based on a standard 1800cc model and was apparantly
named after a wine that Mazda UK thought looked closest
to the cars colour. Only 600 units were made between
June and October 1996 and cost £16,350.00 when
purchased new
This
special version was finished in Vin Rouge Mica and sported
colour coded rear mudflaps, 15" alloy wheels, Dunlop
SP2000 tyres and locking wheel nuts

The
interior was trimmed in luxurious grey leather with
burgundy piping. The centre console featured wood 'effect'
trim complimented with a wooden gear knob and hand-brake
grip
The
steering wheel was leather trimmed although this was
only available on the first 400 units
In
car entertainment was delivered via a Clarion DRX81-
175R single disc CD-player with RDS ... a boot mounted
CD-changer unit was also available at extra cost

Standard
equipment also included a security immobiliser and power
steering
